Carter Groskreutz

General Manager / Assistant Director of Programming / Coach

Carter grew up in Chaska, Minnesota where sports drove everything in his youth. Carter participated in football, basketball, and baseball throughout adolescence and in high school. When the time came to make the leap to college athletics, Carter found it would be the most prudent decision to not extend his football career into the collegiate setting. Given his past history of multiple concussions, Carter decided to put down his pads and focus on his education. The decision to not extend his athletic career left a void in many ways, and he knew he needed to find a new outlet.

Faced with no plan for his competitive spirit or passion for sport, during his junior year of undergrad Carter did what many people in his situation have done and took a leap of faith, trying CrossFit for the first time. Initially it was foreign, intimidating, and challenging, but little did he know that it would turn out to be a life changing decision. There are few sports or training methodologies that can challenge you in ways that CrossFit does, which is what makes CrossFit so fun and innovative. It sparked a new passion, and gave Carter a new passion for personal development and inspiring growth in both physical and non-physical capacities.

Carter received his B.S. from the University of St. Thomas in Exercise Science in May of 2018 and later received his Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in Sport and Exercise Science during the fall of 2019. Carter has also gained experience working in collegiate strength and conditioning, interning with the University of St. Thomas and University of Minnesota’s strength and conditioning departments. Carter currently works part time at Macalester college as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Currently Carter lives in Chaska. Outside of CrossFit, Carter loves movies and television, as well as getting together with his buddies on the weekends. He also enjoys keeping current on all issues in sport and exercise science, so you can often find him with a book in his hands!
